ISAO TSUGE

Since the eighties Isao Tsuge has participated in international fashion events including Paris collections and his work has been in numerous fashion magazines. In 1990, he won "The Japan Hair Dressing Award (JHA)". It was the first time for this kind of competition to be held in Japan. A third party agency collected work privately and Isao Tsuge was chosen from amongst 20,000. He gradually shifted fields into advertising and by 2000 he was receiving many requests for film and stage. While working in such media he found there was an absence of overall beauty direction and so took on the position of "Beauty Director" incorporating design, coordination and management. At the same time he established DARTPACS, where he teaches the art of make-up for photographing. An internship system is provided after studying for one year, producing many hair and make-up artists and assistants and expanding the network. Although principally working in the advertising, film, theatre, and fashion industries, he has also worked with contemporary artists. In 2005 he worked on Matthew Barney's "Drawing Restraint 9"
